Danish / Finnish synth-pop band Liima take time off from their European tour with Grizzly Bear to play a live set in-front of the Low Four cameras, previewing songs from their second album 1982, released November 3rd on City Slang.
The three Danes – who remain the key components of Efterklang – were on a search for a new touring drummer whilst promoting the release of their fourth album, Piramida. As soon as meeting Fiin Tatu Rönkkö they soon found themselves spending preceding weeks in a small cottage creating an entirely new repertoire. Though they didn’t know it at the time, this residency would prove the occasion for the birth of Liima.
For a band originally founded upon enthusiastic acts of spontaneity, 1982 represents a huge, sophisticated leap forward. The decision to form Liima may have been as bold and radical as their new sound, but the consequences speak for themselves.
